Developing A New Africa
Founder / Projectmanager
The idea for the Africa project was born on a country bus in Uganda, when I saw a fellow traveler throw out his empty plastic water bottle through the bus window straight into nature. I grew up with “Keep Sweden clean” and I began to think about how I can contribute to creating an awareness of the importance of a clean environment, and how important this is for human health and well-being.
Children have the right to live a healthy life in a clean environment. They are curious and open-minded, and I thought that if we show this generation of children, it will continue to the next generation. That’s why I founded Developing A New Africa-DANA, which works with health and environmental activities at several schools in Uganda. We want to contribute to a change, to a better tomorrow.
What started as a small seed has today grown into a two-year program and we work directly on site with children and teachers in schools in vulnerable areas, with methods that make them involved, active and creative. We provide participants with knowledge and tools in clean environment, clean water, agriculture, cultivation, sanitation and hygiene.
